Two weeks ago on Sunday May 17th, Lexie delivered five beautiful babies. Her labor was long, starting at 7:30 PM and ending at 4:40 AM but she did a great job. She settled right in and her instincts of caring and nurturing her little ones was instant. She is a great mother and very attentive to her babies.
Lexie had four girls and one darling little boy.
The two smallest are also the two curliest.
Their curls are not tight but they will definitely be curly.
Besides their size, these two silvery-tan girls look very similar in regards to their coats. I can't quite put a finger on their color--we've never had a puppy quite this color here at Magic Valley Goldendoodles! They are darker than their cream brother with more of a light silvery brown color. We can't wait to see how this coat looks as they grow into adulthood! Both of these girls will most likely have a loose wavy coat like their mother.
Our fourth little girl will have a loose wavy coat like her mother as well. This little one (or should I say big!) has topped the chart from day one at 1 lb 0.3 oz and now weighs 3 lbs 14.6 oz. She has a beautiful light red/apricot colored coat.
They are growing so quickly (as all puppies do). This is the largest litter (weight and size of puppies) we have had here at Magic Valley Goldendoodles. They may prove to be quite the handful for us when it comes to their size by the time they will go home. It's good that there are only 5 of them!! They get lots of love and attention from all my little ones here at home and are being well socialized. Eyes opened the middle of last week and they started walking. They are getting so good at moving around that today one of them climbed out of the whelping box using the puppy rails to give him a boost. That's right-- the smallest was the first one out! I guess it's time to add the first extension to the whelping box door to keep those little ones from escaping...
