Puppies are 7 1/2 weeks old! Some will start going home with their families this weekend--most will wait until next week. They are still growing really quickly and are learning every day. They all use the dog door to go out to the bathroom. The recent rainy weather makes for a lot of muddy pups! They love to play outside.
The whole litter has learned to sit politely when told in order to get their dinner. They are eating 3-4 meals of softened dry dog food each day and they occasionally snack from Paisley when she lets them! They are as soft and silky and cuddly as they look.
At six weeks old the puppies are starting to be awake and show more personality. All ten are using the dog door to go out to the bathroom (!) and they are learning to sleep in crates. They still generally like to share (two or three will pile into one crate at a time during naps) but they are also spending time alone in their crates each day.
They still nurse for snack time when Paisley lets them--they are eating solid foods four times a day and they have water available at all times.
Six to eight weeks is an important developmental stage where bite inhibition is taught and learned. It's important for a good family dog to know how to use their teeth safely. Playing with each other and interacting with Paisley helps them learn how hard they can bite without causing damage.
