Puppies all have eyes open and are walking around quite effectively. Their sharp little puppy teeth should start popping out any day now. Mostly they just eat and sleep still but occasionally I catch them growling and playing around with one-another.
Sadie's little brood is growing like crazy--as puppies always do! This week the pups have learned to walk on steady feet and they are starting to play with each other. They sleep in a big pile and they are starting to find their voices. It's very cute at this stage!
They aren't quite big enough to go outside through the dog door on their own yet and won't be for a couple of weeks, but they will start paper training this week. They had their first taste of solid food today. We will continue to introduce watered down solid food until they have all their teeth. Sadie is exhausted from trying to nurse ten puppies and solid foods will help take some of the burden off of her! As always Sadie is an attentive mom and keeps the babies super clean. We will post a video of them playing in the next day or two!
These little ones just opened their eyes this last week. They are all creeping about on shaky legs but are learning rapidly. They spend a lot of time sleeping and nursing and Sadie is doing her best to keep up with all ten babies! Every now and then Annie comes over and nurses them for a minute which Sadie totally appreciates!
We will take individual pictures at about three weeks.
If you are on the waiting list for Sadie's litter and you know which puppy you want please let me know!
These little babes are growing like crazy. Annie was laying just out of reach outside the whelping box door today and they cried and cried until they figured out how to climb on each other and get out of the box! This marks the beginning of the busy time with puppies in our house!
The cream girl, brown and white boy and Brown girl are the biggest. The dark chocolate boy is the smallest and the tan and white boy is right in the middle. The little cream girl was the first to find her voice. She yips and yips when she's hungry. In fact last night she was yipping away and Annie came into my room and brought me out to see her little wide awake puppy! If you have ever owned a dog then you know what I mean when I say Annie 'brought me out!' Dogs just have a way of 'telling' their people what they want. The other four pups seem to be very similar in temperament. They still spend a lot of time sleeping and eating. This next week they will start potty training with a potty area in their box and at around five weeks they will start going outside to potty with their mama. Even in the cold!
These babies are double the size of their 6 days younger 'cousins' next door. They walk on steady feet and they are starting to play with each other. Their little freckled noses will fill in as they get older. In the mean time we are enjoying snuggly puppies!
