August 10, 2018 We loved meeting everyone for Family Match day. We are so happy that all of these babies are going to really great homes! All of the puppies are using the dog door to go potty outside and they are eating solid food. Penny is weaning them and they only occasionally have a quick 'snack' from mom. This week they will start learning about clicker training and especially how to sit to get what they want. They all have their little puppy teeth and they are learning bite inhibition as they wrestle and play with each other.
July 31, 2018 The babies are almost five weeks old! We started supplementing at about 3 1/2 weeks and everyone is happily taking food. They all have their teeth in and are just starting to eat soft dry food. By next week they will have transitioned almost completely to dry puppy food which will be a big help to Penny. Nursing thirteen babies is exhausting but Penny has been doing a great job. The puppies have been the center of attention this summer over at the Moffitt farm. They meet new kids and excited people almost every day. They love to play on the grass and they are doing great with potty training. We will move them over to the potty training box with the dog door next week and they will all start using the dog door to go potty outside.
July 17, 2018 Penny's babies are two and a half weeks old. This past week they have all opened their eyes and starting to toddle around. They still spend most of their time sleeping and eating. Over the next week they will improve their walking skills and they will start interacting with each other more and more. We will start supplementing to help Penny with this large litter as soon as everyone is stable on their feet.
7/5/2018 Penny and babies are doing awesome! All thirteen are taking turns eating and sleeping. Penny spends all of her time keeping them clean and fed. The red markings on our parti pups are getting darker--our tiny cream girl has white and apricot markings as well as the other parti girl and boy. All of the apricot and red puppies have white mis-mark spots as well. We will have more pictures to come!
6/29/2018 Penny (and I) had a long night of labor last night and she started delivering at about 8:30 this morning. All thirteen babies were here by about 2:15 this afternoon! All babies were born healthy and active with no complications. We have six boys and seven girls. They are all eating and moving around as expected. Penny is exhausted but is resting and eating and drinking. We will do more individual pictures after the holiday!
6/28/2018 Penny is due any day now and she is ready to pop! Her little belly is completely swollen and she is exhausted from carrying her little pups! X-rays on Monday showed at least 12 babies--maybe a couple more. Penny spends most of her time trying to find a comfortable position! We will certainly be happy to see her babies arrive.
